Venkatesalu, a distinguished business leader with over two decades of experi- ence, has been instrumen- tal in shaping the success of Trent Ltd, one of India’s most admired retail enter- prises.His journey began in 2001 when he joined Tata Administrative Services (TAS), the leadership development pro- gram of the Tata Group. He served with Tata Sons Limited as part of the group finance team, honing his expertise in corporate finance and strategic plan- ning. In May 2008, he joined Trent Ltd as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), where he played a pivotal role in the company’s financial growth and strategic direction. By 2015, he was appointed to Trent’s Board, assuming additional leadership responsibilities and contributing signifi- cantly to its operations and expansion.

In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, he took on the role of CEO & Executive Director at Trent. Under his leadership, the company achieved a five- fold increase in revenues, consistently registering market-leading growth across its portfolio. This remarkable perfor- mance propelled Trent into the ranks of India’s top 50 listed entities, with a market capitalization exceeding USD 20 billion. Starting October 2024, he has stepped into the role of Managing Director at Trent. He is now steering the company through its next phase of growth, focusing on innovation, opera- tional excellence, and sustainable value creation.
